ConspiracyBrews Discussion Group

CONSPIRACY BREWS
Saturday Morning Discussion Group

What is Conspiracy Brews?

Conspiracy Brews is an issue-oriented discussion group that meets in a coffee house environment with excellent coffee from the local aficionados like Cup O'Joe's (NE Corner of Comanche and Eubank).

Who attends Conspiracy Brews?

We are concerned citizens just like you.  That includes anyone who wishes to civilly discuss issues.  You can and should disagree with issues, but you are also willing to listen without anger to opposing opinion.  We welcome all Democrats, Republicans, Greens, Independents, Libertarians and anyone willing to discuss issues with an emphasis toward presenting viable solutions to the issues facing us.  Disagree but do it respectfully toward one another.

Where do we meet?

We meet normally at the Southwest Secondary Learning Center, 10301 Candelaria NE Albuquerque NM 87111 (at the Northwest intersection of Candelaria and Morris).

When do we meet?

We meet from 0900 to 1100 every Saturday Morning.

Why do we meet?

We meet to determine the best courses of action insuring that the issues that affect our lives and our existence in our community, our city, our state and our nation are brought to the attention of our elected officials and those who might be planning on running for office.  Our intent is to identify problems and come up with solutions to those problems, and, when necessary, take appropriate action to insure that our views are clearly presented to our fellow citizens.

CBrews History

Conspiracy Brews is a discussion group that meets over coffee each week to discuss issues that affect the City of Albuquerque NM, the Great State of New Mexico, and the United States.  The group welcomes all varieties of political thought from individuals that would like government to be open and honest.  The group started in February 2008 as a vehicle for NM State Representative Janice Arnold-Jones (representing house district 24) to meet with her constituents  and discuss issues that she might see or raise in the NM State Legislature.  Before long, people outside the district found the gathering to be one in which they could raise or discuss issues and be listened to.  The group began in a small Coffeehouse called "A Cup O'Joe".  In 2009, we exceeded the capacity of the coffee shop and moved to the SouthWest Seconday Learning Center (Morris and Candelaria) where we meet each Saturday morning from 0900 to 1030.  One result of the meetings was to question why the NM Legislature would not allow live broadcasts of its sessions.  Arming her with a laptop, camera and sound, Janice took the equipment to one of her legislative committee meetings and went live.  She was requested to turn it off, but she refused.  She continues to broadcast the committee meetings, and has received support and positive feedback from all of the State of New Mexico.  This has had the effect of creating debate within the House and Senate, opening the doors to live video and audio broadcasts of our state government.

We welcome all to attend this meeting and wish to provide an open forum for people to present ideas as long as they know these ideas will be debated in an open circle of fellow citizens.  The name reflects the social aspects of coffee (Brews) and Conspiracy (because we want open and accountable government).
